DORA MAURER

"The exhibition showcased a large variety of graphic design works, photographs and paintings. The way she combined colours to create a more playful display of her work made me consider a different approach for the final exhibition, having the colour palettes exposed in different patterns or shapes."

This is what I wrote in my Interim Report, before I knew there would be no more exhibitions for a while. As expected, my ideas changed from back then. However, I believe Dora Maurer's work still plays a big role in my art practice right now, so it makes sense to have her included as one of my inspirations. She usually explores themes of change and displacement in her work, even highlighting this sense of disorder in all of her pieces. To some degree, I tried to incorporate these practices into my own paintings.

The way Dora Maurer layers the colours and the shapes in her pieces inspired me to try the same technique in my paintings.
