WANDA MAXIMOFF

ANSWERS

1.  Aneta: Fire. Like he made a pact with the devil, like he sold his soul. Sadness

2.  Mihai: A rebel. Gives off a horror vibe

3.  Mihaela: Innocence, hotness, warmth to the point of melting. Description: When your world is falling apart and all you can do is sit back and observe the process because there is nothing you can do. If the picture was grey, I would have perceived it as someone from the working class got off the job.

4.  Miruna: Anger. An outburst of feelings, after a bad thing happened. They were trying to mask their emotions for too long and not they are breaking. The red looks like blood, and it is coving the body during the outburst. I think that means the person is feeling a multitude of things, but the pain/sadness is holding it down.

5.  Madeleine: The bright orange/red tones have a strong effect of rage. This paired with the visuals I see frustration and failure.

6.  Andrada: The feeling of being trapped. The person is being engulfed by a superior power, unknown to them, but very powerful. The red in this picture makes me think that the power that is imprisoning the person is extremely strong.

BEHIND THE PAINTING

Wanda's powers are showcased through different shades of red throughout the films to signify the emotion behind them - is she using them out of anger or out of playfulness. I used red in the same way through the painting - visually loud, to suggest that she can be aggressive, powerful, even dangerous. At the same time, red covers her face, tries to take over the painting, conveying that sometimes her powers are too much even for her. This colour tends to make the viewer anxious.

I used orange to showcase her nicer side. When she is not the Scarlet Witch, Wanda appears as a more upbeat person - she is nice and welcoming with everyone around her.

The green suggests the wide difference between her as Wanda Maximoff and her as the Scarlet Witch. Both her exuberance and her danger.
